GES responds to concerns over 2025 teacher promotion exercise

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has issued an official update addressing widespread concerns surrounding the ongoing registration process for the 2025 teacher promotion exercise.

In a press release dated August 21, 2025, and signed by Mr. Daniel Fenyii, Head of Public Relations, the Service acknowledged two major issues raised by teachers nationwide and provided assurances to calm growing anxieties.

 Key Concerns Identified

Management noted the following pressing matters:

  • Eligibility Clarification: Many teachers expressed uncertainty about whether those promoted or appointed in or before 2021 were included in the current promotion cycle.
  • Technical Difficulties: Numerous applicants reported challenges accessing and submitting their applications through the designated online portal.

GES Assures Teachers of Inclusive and Fair Process

In response, GES emphasised its commitment to ensuring that no eligible teacher is excluded.

The statement clarified that:

  • All teachers who received their last promotion or appointment in or before 2021 are fully eligible to apply.
  • The online application portal is currently undergoing technical enhancements to improve accessibility and functionality.
  • Teachers experiencing difficulties are urged to remain calm, as the issues are being addressed. Management has taken full responsibility for the technical setbacks and assured swift resolution.

Commitment to Equity and Transparency

The service reiterated its dedication to a promotion process that is fair, transparent, and credible.

GES affirmed that every teacher due for promotion will be given a fair opportunity, and no one will be left behind due to administrative or technical lapses.
