The National Service Authority (NSA) has announced the deployment of 17,439 newly qualified nurses and midwives to accredited health facilities nationwide for the 2025/2026 service year.
This significant deployment is intended to strengthen the country’s healthcare delivery system and provide essential support to medical professionals in communities nationwide.
In a press release issued on Monday, April 28, 2025, the NSA confirmed the postings, emphasizing the mandatory nature of the national service program.
“All deployed nurses and midwives are required to complete validation and registration processes to finalize their postings,” the statement read.

The NSA has outlined a clear registration process for all deployed personnel. The process is simple, transparent, and designed to be as efficient as possible.
The registration process requires that deployed personnel undertake the following steps:
- Online Posting Check: Visit the NSA website at https://www.nss.gov.gh/ to ascertain their posting.
- Appointment Letter & Endorsement: Print the appointment letter and proceed to the designated health facility for endorsement by the health facility manager.
- Online Appointment Booking: After endorsement, schedule an online appointment for a specific date and time for registration.
- Regional Validation & Registration: Report to the assigned NSA Regional Validation and Registration Centre with the endorsed appointment letter and a valid Ghana Card.
The regional validation and registration process begins on April 28, 2025, and concludes on May 9, 2025. National service rotations officially commence on May 2, 2025.

Felix Gyamfi, Director-General of the NSA, urged deployed personnel to embrace the opportunity with commitment and professionalism.
“Management of the National Service Authority extends its best wishes to all deployed nurses and midwives and encourages them to embrace this opportunity with dedication and professionalism, contributing meaningfully to healthcare delivery across Ghana,” he stated.
Legal Mandate
The NSA reiterated that under the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), all Ghanaian citizens aged 18 and above who have completed an accredited tertiary institution—universities or nursing training colleges—must undertake national service.
“The NSA wishes to remind the public that per the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119), every Ghanaian citizen who has attained the age of eighteen (18) years or more and has completed any accredited tertiary institution, which includes universities, and Nursing Training Colleges are MANDATED by law to undertake national service to the State.”
