Youth Employment Agency Opens Recruitment for Prison Officers’ Assistants

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Ghana, has officially announced a nationwide call for applications for the position of Prison Officers’ Assistants, offering a unique opportunity for young Ghanaians to serve in a vital public sector role under its structured employment program.

This initiative reflects YEA’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful pathways for youth development while supporting critical public services across the country.

Position Overview

The Prison Officers’ Assistant program is designed to support the Ghana Prisons Service with auxiliary personnel tasked with contributing to the maintenance of order, security, and administrative efficiency across correctional facilities nationwide.

Selected applicants will be deployed as beneficiaries under YEA, receiving training and support to carry out their roles effectively.

These officers will not assume the full duties of trained prison officers but will provide essential backup to help bridge staffing gaps.

This two-year engagement provides a stepping stone for future career development in Ghana’s security and civil service landscape.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must submit their applications exclusively through the YEA online recruitment portal at: https://apply.yea.gov.gh/

In addition, applicants are encouraged to visit their respective YEA district offices for guidance, document verification, and on-the-ground support throughout the application process.

Please note: The application process is entirely free. YEA warns applicants to avoid third-party agents or individuals demanding fees for application processing.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen of Ghana.
  • Be aged between 18 and 35 years.
  • Possess a valid Ghana Card as proof of identity and nationality.

Applicants who do not meet these basic requirements will not be eligible for further consideration during the recruitment process.

Terms of Engagement

Successful candidates will enter into a two-year contract as part of YEA’s national service support initiative.

Throughout the period, beneficiaries will:

  • Receive stipends under YEA’s compensation framework.
  • Be assigned roles that support prison administration, inmate welfare, and facility operations.
  • Be subject to supervision and evaluation to ensure quality service delivery and accountability.

This contract does not guarantee permanent employment with the Ghana Prisons Service upon completion.

However, it provides significant experience and exposure that could enhance prospects for future opportunities in public service and law enforcement.

 Application Deadline

All applications must be submitted no later than Tuesday, 5th August 2025. Late submissions will not be considered, so prospective applicants are advised to complete their online registration and in-person verification as early as possible.

If you’re eligible and passionate about supporting Ghana’s correctional service framework, don’t delay—submit your application today and take the first step toward making a difference.
