Electricity Company of Ghana Goes Cashless

Share:

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has revolutionized the payment method for its customers by announcing their transition to a Cashless system from Thursday, May 11, 2023.

With this move, all 300 ECG offices across the country will no longer accept cash payments, but mobile money and bank deposit slips will be accepted.

The transition to a cashless system aims to improve the payment process as well as reduce the risks associated with physical cash transactions. Paying your electricity bills is now more convenient than ever as customers can now pay from the comfort of their homes by dialing *226#.

Customers who prefer to make payments at the nearest ECG offices can still do so. However, they are required to load up their mobile money accounts with cash before visiting any ECG office to make payments. This will enable them to carry out their transactions seamlessly.

The cashless system comes with benefits such as eliminating the risk of carrying a vast amount of physical cash, reducing the time customers spend in queues waiting to make payments, and saving the energy and transport costs used when visiting ECG offices.

One exciting feature of this new payment system is the convenience it offers. Customers can easily check their account balance, view their payment history and transaction receipts, and receive notifications on their mobile phones.

This feature provides customers with better control over their accounts, and it helps to avoid overdue bills or disconnections.
