At the launch of the NDC’s manifesto titled “Resetting Ghana: Jobs, Accountability, and Prosperity” at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) on August 24, John Dramani Mahama made a bold promise to eliminate five taxes within the first 100 days of his presidency.
The taxes targeted for removal include;
- the contentious E-levy
- the COVID-19 levy
- the 10% levy on bet winnings
- the emissions levy
- and import duty on vehicles and equipment imported for industrial and agricultural purposes.

Mahama believes that these taxes have burdened businesses and citizens, stifling economic growth and increasing the cost of living.
“These draconian taxes have placed undue hardships on businesses and citizens, hindering economic growth and increasing the cost of living,” Mahama stated.
“By removing these taxes, we aim to alleviate hardships and create a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.”

The manifesto outlines the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s plan for economic revitalization and social development.
