Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister of Ghana

Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister of Ghana, is urging bondholders to continue their sacrifices as the government strives to settle all outstanding debts owed to them.

Despite ongoing challenges, Ofori-Atta emphasizes that the economy is regaining confidence. However, liquidity remains a pressing issue, necessitating patience from bondholders.

Ofori-Atta’s comments come in response to Individual Bondholders’ decision to suspend their planned protest at the Ministry of Finance after receiving some payments.

He acknowledges the arduous journey the country has faced, noting the uncertainty that plagued Ghana as of July of the previous year.

While significant efforts have been made to secure fund approval in May 2023, Ofori-Atta stresses the importance of continued sacrifices due to the liquidity constraints.

He advocates for national unity during this period of rebuilding and emphasizes the need for stability.

Furthermore, Ofori-Atta assures bondholders that measures will be implemented to prevent a recurrence of debt-related protests at the ministry.

He says, “The technical people are meeting, and so far, the Lord has been faithful. As Ghanaians, we must appreciate that these are not normal times. We shall successfully overcome this challenge together.”
