Tripartite Committee begins 2025 minimum wage negotiations

Share:

The National Tripartite Committee has officially begun negotiations for the 2025 Minimum Wage, starting on Monday, February 3rd, 2025.

The committee, composed of representatives from the Government, Employers, and Organised Labour, is tasked with determining the national minimum wage for the next financial year.

These crucial discussions will pave the way for subsequent negotiations regarding base pay for public sector salaries.

However, both processes are already behind schedule. The Public Financial Management (PFM) Act stipulates that these negotiations should be completed by the end of April 2024.

The delay has raised concerns about its potential knock-on effects on the 2025 Budget planning process.

“It is crucial that these negotiations are completed swiftly,” stated Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, urging social partners to expedite the discussions.

“The timely completion of the minimum wage negotiations is essential to provide the necessary financial guidelines for the upcoming fiscal year.”

The outcome of these negotiations will have significant implications for the livelihoods of all workers and the overall economic landscape of the country.
