The Ministry of Health (MoH) has issued a strong alert to the general public regarding fraudulent schemes targeting nursing training applicants.
According to the Ministry, criminal syndicates are posing as admission intermediaries and extorting money from desperate individuals seeking placement in public nursing training colleges.
In a statement, the MoH confirmed that these schemes have persisted over the years, but recent intelligence suggests an alarming rise in deceptive activities.
Victims are lured with false promises of guaranteed admission in exchange for cash—an act the Ministry has categorically labelled as criminal and punishable by law.
“The Ministry of Health has received reports of individuals demanding money from applicants with the false promise of nursing training admission. These are scammers,” the statement noted.

The MoH is urging citizens to be vigilant and to reject any offer of admission that involves unofficial monetary exchanges.
Applicants are advised to follow proper channels and avoid falling prey to scammers operating in both physical and digital spaces.
For those affected or approached, the Ministry has outlined a clear reporting process to support investigations and possible prosecution.
Victims should provide evidence, including:
Required Evidence | Details |

Phone Number(s) Used | Mobile contact(s) of the fraudster |
Amount Paid or Requested | Financial details of the transaction |
Screenshots of Chats | WhatsApp or other messaging app proof |

Reports should be submitted via the Ministry of Health’s official hotlines: 0557002631 or 0557208487.
The Ministry reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of Ghana’s nursing education and called on all stakeholders to join hands in stamping out admissions fraud.
