Set Free From Sin (Lesson 2)

Share:

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law, we become conscious of sin. Rom 3:20

Sin is lawlessness. That is to go against law or to break lay down rules and regulations. This means the only thing that makes men conscious of sin is Law. Without laws, there will be no sin.

simply because nothing is there to judge man and tell him what he did was wrong. So the strength of sin is the law. These laws am talking about include all the laws given through Moses and any other commandment of old in the Bible.

These laws make men conscious of sin because anytime they break one, it tells them they’ve sinned. So Apostle paul said:

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, THROUGH THE LAW WE BECOME CONSCIOUS OF SIN Romans 3:20

Did you see that? The law which was given to man to obey for man to have a right to stand with God became a gateway for sin. It became a master and the announcer of sins.

Now the majority are saying, if this is what we are saying that sin means lawlessness, then why did Adam and Eve sin because there was no law then? This is a lie. Adam and eve sinned because of a law. God gave them a command to follow and this command turned to make them conscious of sin.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat. But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. Genesis 2:16-17_

This was a command that God gave out to them. And what happened next? They broke it! They broke the law and this causes sin. WhicThisns, that if God didn’t give out such laws in the garden of Eden, man would have not sinned because nothing will exist to show him whether what he did or is doing is a sin or not. But because of the command, it turns to sin. This means that sin entered our world when laws and commands were instituted. So Apostle Paul said:

For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Romans 5:13Kjv.

Did you hear that? Let me quote from the NIV, it is very simple to understand: _

For before the law was given sin was in the world. But SIN is not taken INTO ACCOUNT when THERE IS NOT LAW

Did you see that? The introduction of the laws gave birth to sin. The strength of sin was the law. The verse said it, where there is no law there is no sin. This is wonderful. If that is the case, then it means our world can only be free from sin when there is no law.

So now the question is, Has God done that as a loving father to His children to be free? Let’s meet tomorrow for the answer

NOTE: THE STRENGTH OF SIN IS THE LAW
