For Christ has brought the Law to an end, so that everyone who believes is put right with God. Romans 10:4GNT
Jesus Christ ended THE LAW. He brought an end to it so that man could have the right reputation with God. The secret is, that if Jesus wants to deal with sin once and for all, He doesn’t have to attack sin.
He has to attack the source of sin which was the law. He has to uproot the strength of sin. And that was what He did. He ended the law. Please, Jesus didn’t end some of the laws as the majority think.
He ended all the laws. He left none which will make men trespass again. He ended all. Look at it again as seen in the opening verse:
For Christ has brought THE LAW TO AN END, so that everyone who believes is put right with God. Romans 10:4GNT.
This is very powerful and straightforward. So what does it means? It means Christ has brought the law(The ten commands plus the 603articles of the law) to an end. Which means we don’t sin again.
Sin is no more a master over us. We are free from it because nothing is existing to point us to sin. So Apostle Paul again framed it this way,
For SIN shall not have DOMINION OVER YOU: for ye are NOT UNDER THE LAW, but under grace. Romans 6:14
Did you see that? For sin shall no longer have dominion over us. Simply because we have been released from the covenant of the old, where sin was a master due to the existence of the law into a new covenant of grace, where sin is a slave due to the absence of the law. Jesus did it all. He put a stop to the laws. And by so doing He put a stop to sin.
Why? Because there are no lay-down regulations that will point us to sin and which will identify us as sinners. We have been delivered from It. look at how Apostle paul tried to explain this:
But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter. Romans 7:6
Glory! We have been delivered from the law, and by so doing we were also delivered from sin which gave birth to death. All this was done by the doings of one man named Jesus Christ. He did it all. Isn’t this wonderful? Yes, it is! And look at what Paul added;
so that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
This means we are no more to serve the law. We are no more to live our lives based on some laid down rules and regulations which were abolished by Christ. Because anyone who lives according to it is living a life outside Christ and His finished works. And such a person is not born again but rather born against the new testament.
Why is the person Born against the new testament and what happens to those who are still living by the laws? Let’s delve deeper tomorrow and answer these questions
