Text:

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" Galatians 2:21NIV

Majority of Christians today when asked if they are righteous, the answer they give is No. This is because, they justify themselves by the law which lead them to sin. Glory be to God the previous lessons have open our minds and have erased those mentality from us.

Now, because we are not living by laws which leads us to sin, we are righteous and holy people. This righteousness doesn’t come because of what We have done, but this righteousness was given to us because of what Jesus has done. It is a gift from God to man. No man can be righteous by working to be righteous. That’s , no man can be put right with God through His obedience to any law or doctrine. We are put right with God by our faith in Jesus Christ( The Grace). No amount of our works can do so as religious men thinks. Look at how Apostle Paul framed it;

I do not set aside the grace of God, FOR IF RIGHTEOUSNESS COULD BE GAINED THROUGH THE LAW, CHRIST DIED FOR NOTHING!" Galatians 2:21 NIV

Did you see that? You are righteous through grace and not by your works. Jesus Christ made you righteous when you believed in Him as your righteousness. Paul said, if righteousness could be obtain through the law, then Christ die for nothing. Your righteousness is obtain through Believing in Jesus Christ not in your works. This is very Simple and clear to understand.

Our father Abraham who lived uprightly in the sight of God was not call righteous by His upright living but was call righteous when He believed and had faith in God. if it is so, then whom do you think you are to be called righteous by your works?. Look at it here;

What shall we say, then, of Abraham, the father of our race? What was his experience? If he was put right with God by the things he did, he would have something to boast about—but not in God's sight. The scripture says, “Abraham believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.” A person who works is paid wages, but they are not regarded as a gift; they are something that has been earned. But those who depend on faith, not on deeds, and who believe in the God who declares the guilty to be innocent, it is this faith that God takes into account in order to put them right with himself. Romans 4:1-5 NIV

Did you see that? Abraham was not counted as righteous by his deed but by His faith in God. This is wonderful. We are not put right with God because of what we have done, we are put right with God because of what Jesus has done. And our believing in what Jesus has done makes us righteous.

So now you see, you are righteous. Stop trying to be righteous by your strength because you can’t. Apostle paul said,

...this is Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8 NIV

You are righteous because you’ve believed in Jesus Christ.
