STOP!! YOU CAN’T….Lesson 4

Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Psalm 127:1NIV

One day I went for service at a church near my house. And in the course of the pastor’s sermon, he asked, “How many of you are RIGHTEOUS here?” To my amazement the whole church was as quiet as a cemetery; no hand went up, not even that of the elders of the church. The Holy Ghost then whispered to me: “THEY ARE BUILDING THEIR OWN HOUSES.”

Many Christians are the same today. When they’re asked whether they are righteous, they answer, “No”. The reason why they give such an answer is because they think their actions can put them in that position. So they move from one fasting and prayer camp to another, seeking for the mercies of God to be righteous . Thus, they are building their own houses, forgetting that David said, “Unless the Lord builds the house, you labour in vain”.

What I want you to know is, STOP TRYING TO BE RIGHTEOUS BY YOUR OWN EFFORT! You can’t BUILD that house by your own strength. Stop relying on your own effort for righteousness, because you can’t!
Listen to What Apostle Paul said :

Therefore NO ONE will be DECLARED RIGHTEOUS in His sight by observing the law (Romans 3:20)

Did you see that? It is in line with what David said: ‘UNLESS THE LORD…’ We cannot become righteous in the sight of God by our own works( living by the law). No one can do so! Your own building (strategy) can’t. ‘Unless the Lord…’ So Jesus appeared on the scene and built that house for us. All we need to do is to accept him. Let’s listen to what Paul again said concerning this:

This RIGHTEOUSNESS from God comes through JESUS CHRIST to all who believe (Romans 3:22)

Praise the Lord that the ‘unless the Lord…’ that David said is fulfilled here. The building of RIGHTEOUSNESS has been established through Jesus Christ. The building that men were struggling to complete, Jesus came to complete it. All you need to do as said in the verse above is to BELIEVE .

Let me tell you, the reason why you think you are still not righteous is because you don’t believe in the finished works of Christ; you think you need to do something more and special. There nothing more that you can do. All you need is to accept Jesus as your lord and saviour and RIGHTEOUSNESS becomes your portion .

Note: We are not righteous by our own works (buildings) but we are made righteous through the grace of God .
