The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has declared two former students, Mr. Ransford Fosu-Boateng (alias “Scammer Baby”) and Mr. Raphael Appiah Owusu, persona non grata, effectively barring them from the university campus.
The pronouncement, made in a statement released by the University Relations Office on April 11, 2025, cites persistent disruptive behavior and escalating security concerns as the primary justification for the stringent decision.
According to the statement, Mr. Fosu-Boateng, known on campus by the alias “Scammer Baby,” was dismissed from KNUST on March 21, 2022, following a series of documented breaches of the university’s code of conduct.
Mr. Appiah Owusu’s dismissal, stemming from similar disciplinary infractions, took effect at the close of the 2023/2024 academic year.
Despite their formal expulsion from the institution, the university alleges that both individuals have repeatedly and unlawfully infiltrated residential halls, engaging in acts of harassment, exhibiting disruptive conduct, and actively compromising the overall security and order of the campus.
“These individuals have repeatedly and unlawfully gained access to our residential facilities, creating an atmosphere of unease and disruption for our current students, one that is simply unacceptable,” stated Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office.
“Their presence and actions undermine the safety and security we strive diligently to provide for our entire university community. The University cannot and will not stand idly by while the learning environment is actively compromised,” he added
The university further revealed that Mr. Fosu-Boateng and Mr. Appiah Owusu were recently identified, through meticulous review of CCTV surveillance footage, as active participants in an unauthorized and unlawful assembly that resulted in significant vandalism and destruction of university property.
“…the two former students were identified as participants in an unlawful assembly that resulted in vandalism and destruction of University property. Their actions were captured and confirmed by the University’s CCTV surveillance systems.”
The official statement unequivocally states that Mr. Fosu-Boateng and Mr. Appiah Owusu are no longer bonafide students of KNUST and are therefore strictly forbidden from accessing or loitering within any part of the university premises.
The statement explicitly clarifies that they will be treated as trespassers should they be found on campus, and university security personnel have been instructed to apprehend them immediately.
Beyond the immediate ban, KNUST Management has also issued a strong warning to all current students, urging them to refrain from associating with the banned individuals.
The university administration has made it abundantly clear that any student found to be aiding, abetting, or facilitating the access of Mr. Fosu-Boateng or Mr. Appiah Owusu to university facilities will face severe disciplinary sanctions, in strict accordance with the University’s comprehensive regulations.
