No-Fees-Stress policy:  Students Loan Trust Fund Opens Registration Portal for First-Year Students – APPLY NOW

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced the launch of an online registration portal for first-year students in accredited public tertiary institutions seeking financial assistance under the No-Fees-Stress policy.

According to a press statement issued, the Minister of Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, formally launched the portal as part of efforts to support eligible students in accessing the financial aid through the SLTF.

Policy Initiative

The No-Fees-Stress policy is a strategic government intervention aimed at removing financial obstacles that hinder Ghanaian students from accessing higher education.

During the launch, the Minister of Education, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu, emphasised the importance of this initiative, describing it as a transformative and visionary investment in Ghana’s human capital development and future competitiveness.”

As part of its mandate, the SLTF is dedicated to ensuring the smooth implementation of this policy to facilitate inclusive and accessible tertiary education nationwide.

Registration Process

To streamline the application process, SLTF has developed a dedicated online portal where students can register and verify their eligibility for financial assistance.

The registration portal is now live and accessible at https://nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh/.

Students who require further support or information can contact the SLTF call centre or visit the nearest zonal office for assistance.

Terms Conditions

The No-Fees-Stress Application Portal is governed by specific terms and conditions to ensure compliance and data security for all applicants.

By using the portal, students acknowledge and certify that:

  • They are first-year students enrolled in an accredited program at a public tertiary institution in Ghana.
  • They will provide accurate and complete personal and academic information during registration.
  • Their data will be shared with the National Identification Authority (NIA) for verification purposes.
  • For disbursement, students consent to the creation of a Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) account if they do not already possess one.
  • They may be requested to provide documentary evidence to authenticate their application details.

Data Protection

Applicants are assured that:

  • SLTF and its affiliates will uphold strict confidentiality in handling personal data, in compliance with applicable data protection laws.
  • Robust security measures will be enforced to safeguard personal information from unauthorised access or breaches.
  • Data will strictly be utilised for processing loan applications and facilitating financial disbursement through the intermediary bank.

General Provisions

  • The terms and conditions of the portal will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ghana.
  • SLTF reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions without prior notice.
  • Access to the portal may be revoked if false or misleading information is provided or if the applicant fails to comply with the specified regulations.

Official Statement

Dr. Saajida Shiraz, the Chief Executive Officer of the SLTF has reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to the successfully rolling out the initiative.

This policy is designed to ensure that financial limitations do not prevent any deserving student from accessing tertiary education. We encourage all eligible students to complete their registration through the portal to benefit from this support,” she stated.

The SLTF, therefore, encourages all eligible applicants to complete their registration promptly to secure financial support for the academic year.
